Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Jim Sclavunos has been a member of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds since 1994 and is a co-founding member of Grinderman. Alongside Lydia Lunch, he was an integral part of the NY No Wave scene in bands Teenage Jesus & The Jerks and 8 Eyed Spy, and as a co-editor of No Magazine, before joining Sonic Youth to record their first album Confusion Is Sex.

Sclavunos has recorded with a diverse host of artists including The Cramps, Marianne Faithfull, Iggy Pop, Thurston Moore, Mark Stewart, and Wendy James, along with his own band The Vanity Set. Sclavunos’ work as a writer and/or producer encompasses The Horrors, Gogol Bordello, Beth Orton, Fat White Family, The Jim Jones Revue, Du Blonde, The Wytches, Polly Scattergood, and Joe Gideon. Under both his own name (and moniker Silver Alert) he has done remixes for Depeche Mode, Philip Glass, Alan Vega, Grinderman and Boss Hog.

Throughout the pandemic Jim has been writing and recording new material and producing various projects, as well as continuing his regularly featured DJ slot on Soho Radio. He released his first solo single “Holiday Song” on New Year’s Day 2021, as a fundraiser for the Music Venue Trust. The first release from his lockdown collaboration with singer Polly Scattergood In the Absence of Light came out in November 2021. Jim also made his acting debut in director Mars Roberge’s feature film “Mister Sister” playing the role of Sonny and appeared in the BBC period drama “The Pursuit of Love”. Extensive European festival tour dates have been announced for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds for Summer 2022.
